Venue Assistant Application Form
We're ready when you are...
Thank you for expressing an interest in volunteering with Leeds Arts Events & Venues. We really value your support in creating amazing experiences for audiences at our venues.
The Role
As a Front of House volunteer you'll have backstage access to the city's home for world class entertainment. You'll be an integral part of the Front of House team across our venue, welcoming audiences from a range of cultures and backgrounds. You'll provide an inclusive, friendly, approachable customer experience, helping audiences find their way around the building, checking tickets, and answering queries. From our sell out yearly Pantomime, to award winning Stand-up Comedy, your enthusiasm for our exciting programme will create an atmosphere not to be missed
Volunteer Shifts
We are lucky enough to showcase a variety of performances which vary in scale and style from week to week, and understand that everyone has different commitments and availability. Typical Front of House shifts are between 3 to 5 hours, and we have both day time and evening opportunities. We are recruiting for a pool of volunteers to operate on a monthly basis. You should be able to commit to at least two short shifts a month.
Once you have been accepted as a Front of House volunteer, you will be contacted at the start of each month with a schedule of events to sign up to.
We are looking for:- Volunteers who are over the age of 18
- Volunteers who are passionate about the arts
- Volunteers with the ability to interact with a diverse range of audiences
- Volunteers who are confident communicators
- Volunteers who enjoy creating a positive team atmosphere
- Volunteers who are friendly, reliable and flexible
- Volunteers to be familiar with our programme of events and activities
- Volunteers to undertake any training which may be required
- Volunteers who represent our belief that culture
belongs to everyone, no matter their background.
Your Safety
As we emerge from lockdown, the human element of this Front of House role is more important now than ever before. Your safety and comfort is incredibly important to us. We will be available to support your volunteer journey, so that you can make an informed decision about whether the role is right for you. Each volunteer role will be risk assessed, and volunteer handbooks and training sessions will provide more information on how we are adapting our events this year. Our Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring a safe and rewarding volunteer experience, so that you can enjoy welcoming audiences back to live events with a smile!
You'll be part of a dedicated community operating some of the regions most historic and unique venues. Alongside access to training opportunities, and the chance to gain new skills, you'll get to watch a variety of performances, plus receive discounted tickets and refreshments at the bar. With talks from some of the big names in literature, international orchestras, new cinema releases, and Leeds International Beer Festival coming up, you won't want to miss this opportunity to get involved!
