The National Theatre, established in 1835, is the second-oldest
theatre in the country and is located on Pennsylvania Avenue just
steps from the White House. The National Theatre Foundation is the
501 (c ) (3) non-profit organization that owns and operates this
renowned venue. In addition to the theatre’s preservation and
care, the Foundation manages The National’s vast historical
archive and offers free programs that reach diverse audiences across
the region.
