Our tailored primary school matinees connect students with exciting contemporary dance performances and Sydney Dance Company creatives. Matinee performances include pre-show talks and demonstrations, followed by a post-show panel discussion with our Company dancers and Artistic team with the opportunity for students to ask questions to the panel.

The matinee performance supports the delivery of Key Learning Areas such as English, Creative & Practical Arts and PDHPE. Along with tickets, attending teachers will also receive a Resource Pack with tasks to enrich students' understanding of the performance in the classroom and enable an ongoing and in-depth learning experience with Sydney Dance Company.

Primary Contemporary Workshops

Primary Contemporary Workshops can be booked to accompany and support the matinee experience. Contemporary Workshops are a unique opportunity to experience how the Company creates and performs new and original movement. Participants are guided through contemporary technique, taught a section of Sydney Dance Company repertoire, and will engage in a composition task from the production.

Workshops can be delivered as an incursion (delivered at your school/studio) or excursion to our studios located in the Walsh Bay Arts precinct (subject to studio availability).

Workshops are $285 + GST, up to 1 hour and accommodate for up to 35 participants (please note, for workshops held at schools that are 35km + outside of the Sydney CBD, additional travel fees will apply).

Terms & Conditions

A booking is confirmed when this form has been completed and submitted to Sydney Dance Company.
The booking is made on behalf of the school/organisation and the school / organisation accepts liability to make the payment by the due date.
If a teacher / organiser leaves the school / organisation it is their responsibility to inform the appropriate / replacement staff members of this booking agreement and details.
Any access requirements must be advised at time of booking.
Full payment must be received no later than 7 days prior to a performance.
Ticket refunds are unable to be made within 4 school weeks of the performance.
We are unable to refund schools / organisations for students who do not attend.
Cancellations of bookings made within 4 school weeks will result in the full invoiced amounts being payable by the school / organisation.
Photographing, video recording or any other form of recording during the performance is not permitted.
Student duty of care remains the responsibility of supervising teachers.
